Folios 200-201: Bentick Cavendish Doyle, HMS Lightning, Plymouth Sound. Reports arrival in HMS lightning at this anchorage from St Thomas's, West Indies, which we left on 1 August 1813 with the homeward bound Convoy under the Orders of Captain Francis Augustus Collier of HMS Grampus in company with HMS Opossum and HMS Surinam. Encloses [none included] a copy of his Orders from Captain Francis Augustus Collier, with lists No 1 & 2 of Vessels, forty six of whom parted per Signal from the general Convoy [Position given] and preceded under the protection of this ship and HMS Opossum, also a Log from the time of leaving Saint Thomas's. Reports that the vessels bound up the Bristol Channel and N & East of Ireland parted company off their destined Ports and for Liverpool and Scotland off the Smalls and preceded to their destinations. Having tried to get to Portsmouth but at Bolt Head finding the weather against us we put in here. We will proceed to Portsmouth as soon as the weather permits.
