Description

Folios 151-152: Man Dobson, Regulating Officer, Bristol. Covering letter in the case of Evan Francis said to be an Apprentice, as stated by Lieutenant [William] Pitman together with a Protection granted by their Lordships and a letter from the Reverend William Ellis, Rector of the Parish where the man was born, which has him as two years older that the protection stated, he appears to the Lieutenant, the Surgeon and myself to be about twenty two. Also incloses a letter from Lieutenant John Campbell to him on the Case of William Hughes said to be an Apprentice who was impressed some time ago and will serve to show how little dependance is to be placed in Affidavits made by that class of people in that part of the Empire.

Folios 153-154: enclosure with folios 151-152. Letter dated 6 September 1813 by F A Peell & G L Farmer, George Yard, Lombard Street to the Admiralty. Covering letter for the inclosed Indentures of Evan Francis a bona fide Apprentice of Mr Robert Owen of Carnarvon [Caernarfon] & an Affidavit stating that he has never served at sea. Request his release.

Folios 155-156: enclosure with folios 151-152. Protection Certificate for Evan Francis apprentice to Robert Owen of Carnarvon [Caernarfon]. Dated 4 July 1812. Signed by [not clear], M Dundas and G Warsender. Addressed to Captain Robert Owen, Banger Street, Carnarvon [Caernarfon].

Folios 157-158: enclosure with folios 151-152. William Ellis , Rector of the Parish oh [?] in the County of Carnarvon [Caernarfon]. Search of the Baptism Book for Evan Francis and found him to Twenty years old on 25 August 1813.

Folios 159-160: enclosure with folios 151-152. Affidavit of Thomas Williams & Robert Owen, sworn on 3 September 1813 at Carnarvon [Caernarfon]. [two pages]. Thomas Williams, Gentleman and Robert Owen, Merchant both of Carnarvon [Caernarfon] make Oath that Evan Francis son of Robert Francis of Rheiu [Rhewl?] is an Apprentice.

Folios 161-162: enclosure with folios 151-152. Lieutenant John Campbell, Bristol. To Man [Mann] Dobson, Regulating Officer, Bristol. Dated 21 July 1813. Report on the impressment William Hughes.

Folios 163: enclosure with folios 151-152. Certificate for William Hughes an Apprentice on the Brig Bristol of Chester and apprenticed to William Williams by Indenture dated 15 May 1813. Sworn by William Williams before Samuel Bennett Mayor of Chester
