Folio 492-493: Edward O’Brien Drury, HMS Beaver, Grimsby. Reports intelligence from Danish ship Prince Christian from Bergen Sound to Christiana [Copenhagen] that USS President, American frigate was in Bergen getting supplies of water and beef. Sailed 2 July, supposedly to the north. He separately asked the Prince Christian’s crew to verify this. Seeks instructions about the prisoners. He has a passenger who was in the Prince Christian who says he was in a Galiot laying alongside the President while in North Bergen. Seen some men on shore after she left who’d deserted with a boat. He is sending Lieutenant Paton to deliver this by Express as he has missed the day’s post.
