Description

Folios 487-488: Captain Man Dobson, Bristol Regulating Officer. Sending statement on John Rowland, Carpenter, the Kingston by Lieutenant Rowe. Says Bristol employs nearly seventy ships in the West Indies trade. It appears the carpenters are allowed to go back and forward without being impressed. He has alarmed the merchants. Says of the twenty seven ships in the two convoys only carpenters, John Rowland, James Guppy and James Lutin were impressed. The rest escaped to the shore.
