Folios 477-478: Man Dobson, Bristol Regulating Officer. Reports William Davis, Cooper was impressed by HMS Ann tender out of the West India Convoy. He thought he was fit for the Service when he saw him before she sailed for Plymouth. Says it would have been useful if the Surgeon had seen him. He couldn’t tell how long he’d been at sea.
Folios 479-480: enclosed in folios 477-479. Letter dated 5 July 1813 by John Davis, Bristol. Writes for his son William Davis, Cooper taken round to Plymouth. Impressed from the Ulysses of Bristol in Kingroad, 25 June. Says he was found unfit for the military when examined by the Bristol Council House. Blindness in right eye, catarrh since a child. Petitions his release.
