Description

Folios 468-469: Edward Dix, HMS Royal Oak, Spithead. Says the writer of the enclosed letter was a boy on HMS Royal Oak who’s now invalided because he is blind. Asks that he’s referred to the Marine Society ship, where he came from. He has no friends or protection.

Folios 470-471: enclosure with folios 468-469. Letter dated 6 July 1813 by George Low, Haslar Hospital, Gosport to Captain Edward Dix. Petitions having been in the Service for eight years he is nearly deprived of his eyesight.
