Folios 222-223: Man Dobson, Bristol Regulating Captain to Vice Admiral Domett. Glad suggestions for HMS Enchantress are approved of. From his observation more men should be procured by her in the summer when the convoys arrive than by the Officers on shore. She’s been in port six years, four years in a small creek. Godfrey Baldamus, Surgeon is attentive. Lieutenants don’t live on board. However recommends her crew is paid off at Plymouth, employ Supernumeraries to bring her round and find a new crew. Says the Marines are stout. Recommends Lieutenant Joshua Latimer Rowe, commanding a gun brig in the North Sea who appointed HMS Enchantress’s Commander had to leave due to ill health. He doesn’t want to write a public letter, it would be unpleasant. Wants to make HMS Enchantress effective.
