Description

Folios 109-110: Benjamin Carter, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 7 June 1810. States (1) William Mouatt was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 4 April 1810 as an Able [Seaman], aged 22, born in Thirheadbright. He said he was Mater of the Providence from Amelia Island. He went our as Second Mate of the vessel and had given no Bond to perform the Duties as Chief mate. (2) Joseph Francis was impressed by Lieutenant [James Hamilton] Clark on 19 January 1810 as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 20, born in Bristol. He said he had come from America to London, but acknowledged he came here in the Britannia Cheese Ship at £4-10s per month. (3) William Anderson was impressed by Lieutenant [James Hamilton] Clark on 22 May 1810 as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 21, born in Kireardine. He said he was Mate of the Elisa and produced an affidavit dated 7 April 1810 but a Certificate of Bond was also procured stating a man named John Paterson had given Bond to perform the Duty as Chief Mate dated 12 April 1810. (4) John Langwill was impressed by Lieutenant Potter on 29 April 1810 as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 19, born in Campbell Town. He said he was Master of the Jeannis. He was taken on shore at a quarter before ten o'clock at night. (5) William Robinson was impressed by Lieutenant [James Hamilton] Clark on 4 June as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 20, born in Newcastle. He was taken on the information of a man named William McCanna as having lately come from sea. He saw he had a Wife and family in Newcastle but appears to have been married since in Liverpool. (6) Thomas Cavendish was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 1 June 1810 as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 18, born in Liverpool. He said he was an Apprentice but acknowledged he had been four voyages at sea before being bound.

Folios 117-118: enclosure with folios 109-110: Duncan Campbell, Edinburgh. To Admiralty. Dated 3 June 1810. Application for the discharge of John Langwill.

Folios 119-120: enclosure with folios [117-118] 109-110: Nathanial Harvey & Co, Campbelltown. To Admiralty. Dated 17 May 1810. Covering letter for the enclosed petition.

Folios 121-122: enclosure with folios [117-118] 109-110: Nathanial Harvey & Co, Campbelltown. To Admiralty. Dated 17 May 1810. Petition for the discharge of John Langwill.

Folios 123-124: enclosure with folios 109-110: Elizabeth Robinson, Wife of William Robinson. Liverpool. To Admiralty. Dated 5 June 1810. Request for the discharge of William Robinson. [Plus] Certificate signed by Samuel Glover that the person mentioned [above] is or was an assistant servant of his and has never been to sea.

Folios 127-128: enclosures with folio [125-126] 109-110: Jonathan Ashburne and Richard Cavendish. Liverpool. Dated 4 June 1810. Affidavit that Thomas Cavendish is an Apprentice to Jonathan Ashburne, Blockmaker.
