Folios 658-659: Benjamin Carter, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Response to a request to state the case of Thomas Hails, aged 19, who was imprest by Lieutenant Potter on 19 February 1810. He said he was mate of the Commerce and was taken on shore at 9pm. This man was imprest by Lieutenant Evans and sent on board HMS Princess on 16 January 1810 and was subsequently discharged as their Lordships were satisfied he was Second Mate of the Commerce. He was imprest several days.
Folios 660-661: enclosure with folios 658-659. Thomas Haill, HMS Princess, Liverpool River, to the Admiralty, 7 March 1810. Request for discharge following his impressment and offers one substitute in his place. States he has a Mother and siblings he is responsible for, his Mother has already had to reimburse the money advanced to him now that the Commerce has sailed without him.
