Folios 580-581: Benjamin Carter, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Response to a requests to state the case of seven men who were imprest. John Burton, aged 33, was imprest by Lieutenant James Rees on 27 January 1810. He said he was born in Philadelphia but information was received that he was a native of Ireland. He had a Protection Certificate dated 1806. Elias Lynch, aged 24, was imprest by Lieutenant Henry Freeman Young Pogson on 27 January 1810. He is a Mulatto man who said he was born in Dorchester County. His Protection Certificate was dated 1804. James Cooper, aged 21, was imprest by Lieutenant Henry Freeman Young Pogson on 4 March 1810. He said he was born in Boston but knew nothing of the place and he suspected the Protection Certificate dated 1809 may be a duplicate. Cushing Mitchell, aged 29, was imprest by Lieutenant Evans on 26 January 1810. He said he was born in New York and came here on the Favourite but knew nothing of the place. He was taken on information that he was a native of North Shields and that he went from London to America in the brig Liberty in July 1801. His Protection Certificate is dated 1806. Isaac Allen, aged 25, was imprest by Lieutenant Henry Freeman Young Pogson on 27 January 1810. He said he was born in Philadelphia and came here in the Washington. Information received state he is a native of Ireland. His Protection Certificate was dated 1804. William Welch, aged 19, was imprest by Lieutenant Evans on 22 January 1810. He said he was born in Dorchester and came here in the Argo from Boston. Information states he is a native of Topsham in the West of England and went to New Brunswick and then to America. His Protection Certificate dated March 1801 he thinks does not belong to him and has since been altered to June 1807. George Henshaw, aged 28,was imprest by Lieutenant James Rees on 27 January 1810. He said he was born in Salem and came here in the Mattison. He was taken on information that his is a native of Drogheda [Ireland] and he had no Protection Certificate when examined.
