Folios 510-511: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Response to a request to state the case of Wllliam Makemirth, aged 25, who was impressed by Lieutenant Thomas Flinn on 4 February 1810. His grounds for exemption from impress were not considered strong enough evidence as the Protection Certiicate was not signed by the Comptroller and the Collector of Customs.
Folios 512-513: enclosure with folios 510-511. John Taylor, Customs House, to the Admiralty, 15 February 1810. Petitio on behalf on John Nickenson, Sole Commander of the Ship Experiment by John Taylor for the discharge of William Makemirth, Linemanager. He was impressed and is now on board HMS Ceres in South Shields. As the Experiment is now ready to proceed on the fishery his service is much needed.
