Description

Folios 137-138: Vice Admiral Sir John Wells, HMS Glatton, the Nore. Sends a letter from The Commanding Officer of HMS Adamant with an enclosure from the Lieutenant of Marines Manderson and Lieutenant Cockell.

Folios 139-140: enclosure with folios 137-138. Letter dated 1 October 1809 from First Lieutenant Manderson, HMS Adamant, Great Nore, in the absence of the Captain on leave, to Vice Admiral Sir John Wells enclosing a letter from Lieutenant Cockell Royal Marines.

Folios 141-142: enclosure with folios 137-138. Letter dated 1 October 1809 from Lieutenant of Marines J Cockell to Lieutenant Manderson, Commanding Officer, HMS Adamant. States the expenses incurred on bringing home 16 Officers of the Guards from South Beveland on the Scheldt estuary would not be less than £80.
