Folios 338-339: Commander Benjamin Crispin, HMS Leveret, Harwich. Reports that John Johnson was impressed by Lieutenant John Duval of HMS Leveret from the Favourite of Sunderland on 28 February. His appearance does not match that on the Admiralty protection he produced, which was forwarded to the Admiralty on 1 March together with the indenture produced by his Master, which states that he was entitled to a sum of £50 for three years' service. Believes Johnson is not the man mentioned in the indenture.
Folios 340-341: enclosed with folios 338-339. Letter dated 8 March 1809 from William Hemsley, Tom Coffe House, Cornhill, to the Admiralty . Reports that when the brig Favourite, which he commands, was lying in the port of Harwich on 28 February, an officer from HMS Leveret impressed John Johnson, who is apprenticed to his uncle the owner of the vessel, William Helmsley. Johnson had never been to sea before the date of his indentures and possessed an Admiralty protection. Asks for his discharge.
