Folios 289-290: Commander Benjamin Crispin, HMS Leveret, Harwich. In answer to the letter concerning James Redgreve, reports that he was impressed by Lieutenant John Duval of HMS Leveret from the Britannia of South Shields on 7 February. When questioned, Redgreve said he was a Sea Fencible. Another man impressed from the same vessel, William Saunders, made the same claim, but as neither of them was able to produce a protection, Commander Crispin detained them. Saunders has since admitted that he was discharged from the Sea Fencibles before signing on to the Britannia. Returns the enclosures.
Folios 291-292: enclosed with folios 289-290. Letter dated 13 February 1809 from Captain Thomas Surridge, the Sea Fencibles, 41 Norfolk Street, Strand, to the Admiralty. Encloses a letter from Commander Martin Hinton, who commands the Sea Fencibles at Southwold.
Folios 293-294: enclosed wtith folios 291-292. Letter dated 9 February 1809 from Commander Martin Hinton, the Sea Fencibles, Lowestoft. James Redgreve is a Sea Fencible under his command, and went to Harwich with a collier which was in distress, where he was impressed by a boat from HMS Leveret. Asks for his discharge.
