Folios 206-207: George Countess and Commander Edmund Joshua Moriarty, Waterford. As ordered they have come to Waterford to examine Dunmore Bay. It seems a suitable place for packets, particularly if a pier could be constructed on the south side of the bay at Porcallin Cove to shelter vessels, particularly from Southeasterly winds. Major Taylor will be able to judge how expensive such a pier would be to construct, as at low tide there is a depth of 24 feet of water. It would assist vessels which are not able to reach Waterford Harbour and sometimes are wrecked on Credon Head. A ship bound for the West Indies was wrecked there two months ago with the loss of all hands. Soundings indicate the depth is correctly marked on Dolye's Chart of Waterford Harbour. PS Captain Countess now proposes to return to Dublin.
