Folios 191-192: Hugh Cook, HMS Diomede, Spithead. Acknowledges the letter about his ship being supplied during the absence of William Bailey, his Purser. He was ordered by Sir Roger Curtis to victual his ship for six months and reported that the Purser had been left behind in Guernsey and asked how he was to proceed. Mr Bailey subsequently rejoined the ship in time to give his receipt for the victuals which Capt Cook had ordered on his own recognizance. Wishes to commend Mr Bailey for rejoining the ship so promptly, and as he had given up a position as secretary to the Duke of Bouillon, asks that the Admiralty cancel the warrant for him to be replaced as Purser.
