Folios 599-600: William Cumberland, HMS Leyden, Cawsand Bay, Plymouth. As per orders dated 1 March 1808. He proceeded in HMS Leyden to Admiral Sir Charles Collins Fleet and after severe weather delivered the bullocks and part of the provisions to the Fleet. On 15 March 1808 Admiral Sir Charles Collins ordered him to return to Plymouth with Eighty Seven Portugese Emigrants Supernumeraries from Lisbon, List enclosed. Reports that HMS Leyden makes from seven to eight inches of water an hour and more when she labours, she is very leaky on all her Decks, Store Rooms and Fore Magazine. We arrived on the 2 April 1808. Reports that he reduced John Tandy, Master at Arms for disobedience and repeated drunkenness.
