Folios 354-355: William Charleton, Regulating Officer, North Shields. George Hines was a volunteer landsman with Lieutenant France at Newcastle, he was sober on joining and healthy. He supposes that he applied because he wanted to escape the maintenance of his family. A magistrate applied for him to be substituted. The enclosed appears to be a way of avoiding that expense.
Folios 356-357: enclosure with folios 354-355. Letter dated 1 June 1808 by H. Taylor, Whitehall. Is sending papers.
Folios 358-359: enclosure with folios 356-357. Letter dated 29 May 1808 by Valentine Grievson, Durham. He is asking that his son in law, George Hines a skinner with a wife and five children under 10, who is insane and was intoxicated when he signed on to the Navy, is released.
