Folios 283-284: William Charleton, Regulating Officer, North Shields. Men from the Royal Cornish Militia quartered in Tynemouth, who had previously been Seamen, wish to join the Navy so he wrote to Colonel Williams to see if they could be released.
Folio 285: enclosure with folios 283-284. Letter dated 17 March 1808 by Brigadier Willyams, Lieutenant Colonel Rifer. If soldiers say they have been Seamen, they are guilty of perjury as they have to swear that they have not been previous to their enlistment.
