Folios 277-278: William Charleton, Regulating Officer, North Shields. Joseph James Cockrill was impressed out of the Elizabeth and Sarah of North Shields, Master George Hebron, as he had a fraudulent appointment as a Mate. Hebron states he is 19 but this contradicts the enclosed register from Mr Stephen. The fequency of perjury is appalling as people try to evade impressment. If the Admiralty think an example should be made, this could be used.
Folios 279: enclosure with folios 277-278. Letter dated 9 March 1808 by John Knight, Boro. James Cockrill will not be 18 until next August as can be seen from the enclosed [not present] certificate of birth.
