Folios 223-224: William Charleton, Regulating Officer, South Shields. Is returning the papers relating to William Hall who was nominally Mate but the matter rests on the fact of three people being protected instead of two as the owner was on board although he states he was not going to Gibraltar.
Folios 225-226: enclosure with folios 223-224. Letter dated 20 January 1808 by J. Staniford, London, Is sending papers to show William Hall is Mate of the Frederick.
Folio 227: enclosure with folio 225. Printed certificate showing that William Hampsworth Master and William Hall, Mate of the Frederick have given their smuggling bond.
Folios 228-229: enclosure with folio 225s-226. Letter dated 1 January 1808 by Thomas Cross, Hull, Owner. William Hall was a Mate on the Frederick going from Shields to Gibraltar. Cross was on board the Frederick for other business and was not going to go to Gibraltar
