Folio 106-107: Francis August Collier, HMS Grampus. Gravesend. Informs Admiralty that John McAplin, aged 25, and part of the Carpenter's Crew was impressed on 31 July 1913. He was impressed by Lieutenant Robson Cruse of the Grampus from the merchant ship John of Greenock. He did not voluntarily enter the service nor did he receive His Majesty's Bounty.
Folios 108-109: enclosure with folios 106-107. Petition dated 14 July 1815 by Janet McLean, mother of John McAplin,requesting the discharge of her son. She is 70 years old and unprovided for. Requests reply to Archibald Baxter, Messrs Scotts Land Scotts, Greenock.
