Description

Folio 266: Paper Office slip indicating that a letter from Captain Sir Christopher Cole, 6 September, requesting the R is removed against the name of Daniel Coffin, has been referred to the Navy Board.

Folios 267-268: enclosure with folio 266. Letter, 6 September 1814, from Captain Sir Christopher Cole, late of HMS Doris, Plymouth Dock to the Admiralty. Requests that the R is removed from the name of Daniel Coffin, also known as John Rogers, who served under his command on HMS Doris in India and who had given himself up as a deserter from HMS Captain. States that Daniel Coffin has conducted himself in an exemplary manner.
