Encloses the petition and certificates of John Jennings, Clerk who has served, ably and correctly for 3 years and endorses Jennings request, stating that John Jennings was one of the first Clerks to pass the examinations for a Purser's Warrant.
Folios 241-242: enclosure with folios 239-240. Petition, 26 August 1814, of John Jennings, Clerk, HMS Queen, Hamoaze to the Admiralty. Requests he is granted a Purser's Warrant having been one of the first to have qualified by examination on 10 September while serving on HMS Gladiator. Outlines his 7 year's service, originally as an Able Seaman, and the health challenges he has faced. HMS Diomede also mentioned.
