Folios 259-260: [Thomas]? Cochrane, 13 Green St, Grosvenor Square. Feels it his duty to send on a letter from Major Nicolls, regarding the Marines on HMS Tonnant.
Folios 261-262: enclosure with folios 259-260. Letter dated 18 February 1814 from Edward Nicolls, HMS Tonnant in the Medway, asking if the boys in his service may be replaced with 'efficient privates' instead, as he expects immediate employment as soon as they reach their destination - otherwise he thinks the system of having boys in the service is a most useful one. He also asks that two men, second Lieutenant Henry and Sergeant Hamblyn, now at Chatham, be ordered to join the Tonnant - says he had recommended these men to Sir Alexander Cochrane before he sailed, but they were not within reach.
