Folios 207-208: Robert Cathcart, Fareham. Acknowledges receipt of Admiralty letter of 27 January, enclosing the extract of a letter from Mr Jollie, re detention of the ship Dennewitz and asking for his report. Says the ship's papers showed the Master had sold her to an American at Gothenburg, apparently without the owner's permission, which he felt was grounds to detain her. However the legal opinion being doubtful, he has given instructions to Mr Field, Rear Admiral Hope's secretary, who is the acting agent, for the ship's restitution.
