Folios 518-519: Smith Cobb, HMS Onyx, Gibraltar. T. Webb was dismissed as Purser from HMS Onyx without producing a single book or paper. The Victualling board has sent its accounts for his signature. He is enclosing a letter that explains the inaccuracies in Mr Webb's letter about his refusal to sign Webb's books. He stayed on board HMS Onyx after he was dismisssed on the 11th December so he could make up his accounts although he had sent a letter on 22nd November to say he would no longer attend to the expenditure of the ship.
Folios 520-521: enclosure with folios 518-519. Letter dated 18 February 1812 by Charles Webb, Portmouth Yard Storekeeper. His brother [Telophihad] Webb is in a dangerous position as his accounts were not signed and the Victualling board is pursuing his surety. As his mother is widowed with 8 children, the Victualling board is pursuing her. His younger brother is joining the Marines in San Juan Gibraltar, so he is sending out the accounts with him to be signed by Cobb. He has just been wounded and will return to England so the signed accounts could be sent back with him.
Folio 524: enclosure with folios 518-519. Letter dated 26 April 1813 by Smith Cobb, HMS Onyx, Gibraltar. He has signed the books of Webb's brother. Had Webb produced the accounts to be signed before he left Gibraltar, all this could have been avoided.
