Folios 170-171: Christopher Cole, 22 Arundel Street, London. Thomas Mattinison, Gunner on HMS Caroline under him deserted because of mental derangement in India so the R should be removed. His memory was destroyed by the heat and before he could return to England. He was an exceptional and intelligent man and the letters from his family show his gradual decline over three years.
