Description

Folios 529-530: William Croft, Regulating Captain, Hull Rendezvous. Reply to letter dated 22 March 1812 with the enclosed. States that Lieutenant [John] Peding went on board the Ship John on the 14 March 1812 & brought three men William Taylor, James Chisholm & Matthew Freeman because the Mate could not produce the ships protection but this document he believes was really on board at the time & he was going to discharge them, when he received an intimation that they had disagreed about their wages and would not sign the ships articles. In the abstract of Act of George 2nd C 36.1.2 [Questions the legal situation and; suggests the Admiralty better able to decide the legalities.

Folio 531: enclosure with folios 529-530. [Proforma]:- Document to be sent to the Paper Office when any Paper is sent away in original. Date; 24 April 1812, [Author]; Captain [William] Croft at Hull, Subject; relative to three men impressed from the Ship John Vis:- William Taylor, John Chisholm & Matthew Freeman, Date 27 April 1812, Nature of Minute; Sent to Mr Bicknell.

Folios 532-533: enclosure with folios 529-530. Richard William George John Moxon[?], Owner of the Ship Johnc of Hull, To Admiralty. Dated 20 April 1812. Request that discharge of three men impressed about ten days ago from the Ship John, Edward Freeman Master:- William Taylor, John Chisholm & Matthew Freeman.
