Folios 496-497: William Pryce Cumby, HMS Hyperion, Portsmouth Harbour. Having, at a time when it was intended I should have brought to England the late Commander in Chief at Jamaica, received from Captain [Thomas] Graves of HMS Polyphemus a Box Chronometer made by [John] Brochbank No 425; I beg leave to enclose for the information, its Rate as compared with an excellent Box Chronometer of [John] Arnold's No 308, whose daily rate was gaining 33" - and also its comparative rate with a good Pocket Chronometer made by Pennington No [51 over 449] gaining 47" Mr Diern; and with a Pocket Chronometer by Bauvire[?] up to the 26 December 1811:- from the 7th February 1812. I have given its daily rate as ascertained on those by the transit instrument; and awaiting their Lordships directions as to its disposal.
