Folios 492-493: Philip Carteret, [HMS Naiad], Portsmouth. The Officers and Crew of HMS Naiad late under his Command, having requested, on this day, whereon they were paid off, to subscribe Two Days Pay for the relief of the Widows & Orphans of the Sufferers lost in His Majesty's Ships HMS St [Saint] George, HMS Defence, HMS Hero and HMS Saldanha. Request the Admiralty order their Pay {Including my own) to be stopped to that amount and applied to the Fund established for that purpose.
