Description

Folios 471-472: Robert Campbell, HMS Tremendous, Downs. Reports the arrival of HMS Tremendous from off Brest which he left on 20 March 1812 at half past 5 PM. By Telegraph Message from Sir Richard King Bart; Blowing a Gale of Wind at West. Proceed to the Downs and report your arrival to the Admiralty. Has [not present] news of the Enemy. His Majesty's Ships off Brest are:- HMS Bulwark, HMS Tonnant, HMS Northumberland, HMS Colossus, HMS Hague. Privateers parted Company on the 15 in chase of a Brig; the [?], HMS Druid and HMS Diana, Frigate and HMS Albion [?]. On the 19 March 1812 the inshore Frigate made the signal to the Commander that the Enemy in Brest were the same as when last reconnoitred, Vis[?] the Line of Baltic ships/ Flag at the Fore/ & Four Frigates, I G Yards Anchors & Sails Cenl[?] , One Line of Baltic Ship with F[?] as to Struck no Top Sails, Masts, Lower & Topsail yards anchors appear to be fitting. A Brig with Topmast Struck, A Schooner and a Hulk.

Folios 473-474: enclosure with folios 471-472. [Admiralty Note] Dated 24 March 1812. Captain [Robert] Campbell HMS Tremendous in Downs to be directed to send up a copy of his Log for the 9, 10, 11 & 12 [March 1812] [?].
