Description

Folios 194-195: William Croft, HMS Alacrity, Little Nore. Reports that of the ship's company drafted from HMS Swift to HMS Alacrity, there are 14 foreigners (Ab) and Petty Officers which outnumber the English. They are mostly Danes and Swedes, and extremely good men, but he is under the orders of Admiral Wells and visits their ports, where their governments are extremely good at enticing them away. Wonders whether some of them should be exchanged.
