Folios 557-558: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Reply to letter 5 September enclosing John Brown’s letter requesting discharge of Edward Jones, age 14 years. Reports he’s discharged him as his case is as represented. Returns enclosures.
Folios 559-560: enclosed in folios 557-558. Letter dated 12 September 1807 by John Brown, Liverpool. Evan Jones of Manchester for his son Edward on board HMS Princess. Sends copy of his certificate. He left his parents without their knowledge. Says he’s never been to sea and employed at a Cotton factory in Manchester and hasn’t reached eighteen.
Folio 560A: enclosed in folios 557-558. Letter dated 2 September 1807 by Charles Davis, Church Warden, St Mary on the Hill, Chester. Baptism record, copy. Edward, son of Evan Jones, Whitesmith and Mary his wife, Baptized, 27 April 1794.
