Folios 541-542: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Reply to 24 August letter enclosing an unsigned request for John McCulloch’s discharge. Says he’s discharged him as he’s fifty six and laboring under the infirmities mentioned in the letter.
Folios 543-544: enclosed with folios 541-542. Liverpool 22 August 1807. Writing for John McCulloch, Publican, impressed and on board HMS Princess. Says he is 56 years old and labors under infirmities which its hoped are sufficient to justify his discharge. He is very deaf, nearly blind and has three small motherless children who will become destitute. With only a woman servant to take care of them and the House wouldn’t be able to pay the fifty pounds rent plus taxes. Requesting John McCulloch’s discharge.
