Description

Folios 524-525: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Reply to letter of 15th about 1.-Richard Waring alias Warren, 2.-John McGutherie and 3.-John Nodin for William Mountain requesting their discharge. No.1 was impressed Liverpool 22 July, rated Ordinary seaman, stout, fit and healthy. No.2 impressed Liverpool 3 August says he has been on a voyage on the African coast and West Indies, is very stout fit and healthy and No.3 impressed Liverpool, rated Ordinary seaman is stout and healthy and has never been to sea except in fishing boats and as a Ferryman on the Mersey.

Folios 526-527: enclosed in folios 524-525. Letter dated 15 August 1807 by John McGuthrie, Landsman, River Mersey, Liverpool. Asks to be discharged on production of two landsman substitutes.

Folios 528-529: enclosed in folios 524-525. Petition dated 13 August 1807 of Robert Waring, Liverpool. Has a wife and two children one of whom was born blind. Went to sea as he couldn’t find work in Liverpool to support his family. Requesting he’s discharged.

Folios 530-530A: enclosed in folios 524-525. Letter dated 15 August 1807 by John Nodin, Agent, Spring Gardens. Sends petition asking their Lordships favor this apparently distressed family.

Folio 531: enclosed in folios 524-525. Petition dated 6 August 1807 of Richard Mountain, Boatman on Mersey in Port of Liverpool for thirty years who’s so infirm he cannot work to support his wife and family. His son William Mountain eighteen years old has a pregnant wife and is a Sea Fencible volunteer was impressed last Saturday night and onboard HMS Princess. Requests his release to support him, his wife and two small brothers.
