Description

Folios 469-470: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Acknowleges letter 25th May appointing George Davis, Purser, HMS Carysfort to be HMS Princess’s Purser. Says Denny Walker reported to him 15th April and took charge of stores and provisions by survey from Mr Northcote 23 April. Seeks instructions, what he should do with Denny Walker the present Purser.

Folio 471: enclosed in folios 469-470. Letter dated 28 May 1807 by Denny Walker, Purser, HMS Princess, Liverpool. His agents Bird and Collins, John Street Adelphi wrote to him saying they’ve received a letter from the Admiralty saying he’s appointed HMS Carysfort’s Purser in Ordinary at Deptford. He received their letter of 23rd April while a patient at Haslar Hospital appointing him Purser to HMS Princess. He wasn’t able to see Captain Colquitt before the 15th April as his successor in HMS Blossom hadn’t taken the necessary steps to get his accounts in order. He has surveyed Mr Northcote’s victualling stores and has been at some expense in joining his ship. Six months illness, being very unwell he does not feel he can make another journey. Requests to remain Purser on HMS Princess.
