Folios 193-194: John Clements, Regulating Captain, Dartmouth. Has received letter from Mr Holsworth who wrote to their Lordships requesting John Dyer’s discharge saying he’d apprehended Dyer as a deserter from HMS Cambrian. He ordered John Dyer to be taken up as a straggler and seaman belonging to HMS Cambrian frigate and putting him onboard HMS Redbreast to transfer him to Portsmouth in consequence of Captain Paget’s letter requesting him do so. Feeling their Lordships would order his discharge without him procuring a substitute he apprehended Dyer who’ had been absent without leave for some weeks and lives in the neighborhood.
