Folios 157-158: John Clements, Regulating Captain, Dartmouth. Sends the enclosed with annexed certificate from W. Hunt, Port Surgeon for Lieutenant Richard Clarke, one of the officers employed in the Sea Fencibles and Regulating Services who asks to be retired from his present employment. Requests another Officer is employed in his place.
Folio 159: enclosed in folios 157-158. Letter dated 5 January 1807 by W. Hunt, Surgeon, Dartmouth. Certificate for Richard Clarke who’s constantly under his care since last October till today for Liver disease originating from a blow he received at sea falling from the mast of HMS Argus lugger on her passage from eh West Indies. He has jaundice and rheumatic pains which render him completely incapable of serving when he is liable to be exposed to the vicissitudes of going out to sea in storms and rain.
Folio 160: enclosed in folios 157-158. Letter dated 5 January 1807 by Lieutenant Richard Clarke, Dartmouth, to Captain John Clements, Sea Fencibles Commanding. His ill state of health renders him incapable of duty. Requests his Lordships will allow him to retire.
