Folios 110-111: Edward Sneyd Clay, Regulating Officer, Belfast. Reply to letter of 28 January about his having the Elizabeth tender of Greenock return to Plymouth. Says he was ordered to take the Recruiting Parties for the Royal Marines to England 15 December on a tender for the new raised men. He sent the Elizabeth after Lieutenant Colonel Dyer represented they were keeping eighty four new men, their wives and children and some of the Officers in the Maria tender. Says he wrote the Admiral a second letter requesting two tenders who replied he should use what was in his powers. The Elizabeth’s arrival from Plymouth enabled him to transfer the remainder of the parties from the Maria tender. Requested Admiral Young order Lieutenant Robert Morris return to his station in Greenock. Sends copies of Captain Tatham’s letters. Hopes they can see why the Rosa tender couldn’t have performed the task.
Folios 112-113: enclosed in folios 110-111. Letter dated 23 January 1807 by Captain Sandford Tatham, Greenock, . Complains about the letter her received from Lieutenant Morris, Elizabeth tender saying he’d been ordered to Plymouth without being notified. The Rosa tender was sent from Liverpool to supply the place of the Elizabeth till her return is now full.
Folios 114-115: enclosed in folios 110-111. Letter dated 26 January 1807 by Captain Sandford Tatham, Greenock. Received letter of 9 January though the one from Lieutenant Morris arrived on the 22nd who didn’t say he was to go with the Maria or take any of the Marines. Says he now has more than fifty new recruits onboard and is writing to the Admiralty.
Folios 116-117: enclosed in folios 110-111. Letter dated 9 January 1807 by Captain Edward Sneyd Clay, Belfast, to Captain Sandford Tatham, Greenock. Copy of letter. Says the Admiralty have ordered Lieutenant Colonel Dyer to call in all the Recruiting parties and proceed to England. The Elizabeth tender arriving in the loch with slops for the men on the Maria. He ordered Lieutenant Morris, the Elizabeth to assist the Maria tender and she’s not big enough to receive all the men.
