Folios 320-321: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. He has discharged James Frier, Cabinetmaker, from the Eliza tender. The information that he was liable for impressment was made by one of his creditors as an act of revenge.
Folios 322-323: enclosed with folios 320-321. Letter dated 14 April 1807 by Matthew Stewart, North Shields. James Frier worked for him as an Apprentice and has no experience as a seaman. The slump in trade left him indebted and false information was given by one of his creditors. James Frier is now working again with his 2 brothers and has 4 Apprentices.
