Description

Folios 221-222: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. He encloses papers relating to the impressment of Jonathan Woodthorpe, Apprentice, at South Shields by Lieutenant Dathan from the Douro of Yarmouth, B Tucker, Master. He says that he was believed to be over 18 years of age.

Folios 223-224: enclosed with folios 221-222. Letter dated 4 January 1807 by J. Preston, Owner, the Douro of Yarmouth. He encloses an affidavit from Thomas Woodthorpe, father of Jonathan Woodthorpe, confirming that his son is aged 16. He asks that he is released.

Folio 225: enclosed with folios 221-222. William Woodthorpe, Church Warden, Carlton Colville, Suffolk. He says that Jonathan Woodthorpe, son of Thomas and Ann Woodthorpe, nee Mitchell, was born 15 June 1791 and is therefore now aged 16.

Folio 226: enclosed with folios 221-222. Edmund Preston, Commissioner, the King's Bench, Yarmouth. Thomas Woodthorpe has sworn on 3 January 1807 that his son, Jonathan, is aged 16.

Folios 227-228: enclosed with folios 221-222. Letter dated 30 December 1806 by J Preston, Owner, the Douro of Yarmouth. He asks for the release of his Apprentice, Jonathan Woodthorpe.
