Folios 215-216: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Messrs Batchelor and Company have applied for the discharge of Joseph Barrell who was pressed at North Shields by Lieutenant Mitchell while he was serving aboard the Nancy of Colchester. He believes that he is an apprentice who was illegally appointed as a Mate and who is therefore liable for impressment.
Folio 217: enclosed with folios 215-216. Letter dated 3 January 1807 by Batchelor and Potts, Serjeant Inn, Fleet Street, London. They enclose an affidavit made by Thomas Randall, Captain of the Snow Nancy of Colchester. They ask for the speedy discharge of Joseph Barrell.
Folio 218: enclosed with folios 215-216. Thomas Randall, Captain, the Snow Nancy. He says that Joseph Barrell was properly appointed as a Mate with an affidavit sworn before a Magistrate. He has suffered great inconvenience as a result of the impressment of Joseph Barrell.
