Description

Folios 184-185: Edwin Henry Chamberlayne, HMS Ardent, the Nore. On the orders of Bartholomew Knowsley, Vice Admiral of the White he has questioned Frederick Thompson, Seaman, who is serving on HMS Ardent. He says that Frederick Thompson was pressed at St. Lucia in 1805 by HMS Campfort when he was an Apprentice aboard the Henry Indiaman. He subsequently served on HMS Zealand being joining HMS Ardent.

Folios 186-187: enclosed with folios 184-185. Letter dated 14 November 1807 by Samuel Whitely, Liverpool. In Oct 1806 the Admiralty agreed to the discharge of Frederick Thompson as he was indentured to Patrick Kewley at the time he was pressed. As HMS Ardent has now returned from a foreign station he asks that Frederick Thompson is discharged.

Folio 188: enclosed with folios 184-185. John Parke, Clerk to Patrick Kewley, Liverpool. He swears on oath that he completed the indenture for Frederick Thompson.

Folios 189-190: enclosed with folios 184-185. William Marsden, Admiralty Office, Oct 1806. He returns the Indenture and other papers relating to Frederick Thompson as HMS Ardent has sailed to a foreign station and as a result no action can be taken until her return.
