Description

Folio 468: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Is sending a copy of a letter from Lieutenant J Browne, employed at the port under the orders of the Commissioners of Transport, and the reply he made.

Folio 469: enclosure with folio 468. Letter dated 26 June 1806 from John Browne, Liverpool Transport Office, to Captain Colquitt, HMS Princess. He has received a letter from the Commissioners for Conducting His Majesty's Transport Service saying that they have had orders from the Admiralty that the crew of all the detained Prussian vessels are considered prisoners of war, and they are to be sent by tenders to the depots at Plymouth, Major General Fisher has promised every assistance as soon as he has permission to put them on board HMS Princess as there are no tenders in port.

Folio 470: enclosure with folio 468. Copy of a letter dated 26 June 1806 from Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool, to Lieutenant Browne, Agent for Transport, Liverpool. Receipt of letter concerning sending Prussian prisoners of war on board the tenders and asking my permission to put them on board HMS Princess. The tenders are under the orders of Captain Cumberland whose authority should be sought. Having received no orders from the Admiralty, he cannot agree to the request, but has sent Lieutenant Browne's letter to the Admiralty for their directions.
