Description

Folio 380: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Following His Majesty's order in council of 5 April [1806] today he gave the enclosed order to Lieutenant Elkington to proceed to sea with petty Officers and a boat's crew in the Three Friends tender belonging to the Isle of Man Rendezvous and under charge of a Midshipman. The tender is not required for any other service, having just arrived with men from the Island. He hopes this action will meet with approval.

Folios 381-381A: enclosure with folio 380: Order dated 9 April 1806 from Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Senior Officer at Liverpool, to Lieutenant Elkington, HMS Princess. Following His Majesty's order in council of 5 April 1806 that every effort should be used to bring in all vessels, and being reliably informed that 17 or more are expected daily, he fears that if they receive information that they are liable to be detained they may avoid entering a British port. Therefore he is directed to proceed to sea in HM hired tender Three Friends and cruise off the Port of Liverpool for 14 days to bring in all vessels.
