Folio 365: Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Receipt of letter enclosing an application from Thomas Coop for the discharge of his son Samuel Coop. States that he has been discharged as the case appears to be exactly as stated in the application.
Folios 366-367: enclosure with folio 365. Letter dated February 26 1806 from Thomas Coop, living when at home at Cross Keys, Little Bolton, Bolton le Moors, Lancashire, to William Marsden, Admiralty Office, London. His son Samuel Coop of Little Bolton, Bolton le Moors, ran away from him. He came to Liverpool and found him on board HMS Princess under Captain Colquitt. he is a poor cotton weaver with 3 children under 10 years old. He [Samuel] was learning to weave and might help a little soon. he is only 13 years old, was never at sea, and is thin and sickly. He is simple minded. His wife is in great distress, knowing how unfit for the sea he is. They will pay the expenses to have him returned to them.
