Description

Folios 239-240: George Ralph Collier, HMS Minerva, off Ferol. He is sending a copy of his letter to Admiral Harvey. He reports that the squadron are well after the recent heavy gales. HMS London and HMS Sybille separated on the first night of the gale in chase of some suspicious sails, but Admiral Harvey made sure of meeting them on Rendevous 52. He is sending this report in case the Admiral has not had a chance to communicate and hopes he is not deemed to have been presumptuous. On 2 [September 1806] a Spanish Commodore in the 46-gun Pombona with 2 other frigates were close in under the batteries of Grana Ferol and ready for sea, destined for South America.

Folios 241-242: enclosure with folios 239-240. Letter dated 3 September 1806 from George Ralph Collier, HMS Minerva, off Ferol, to Eliab Harvey, Rear Admiral of the Blue. Yesterday evening he cut off a Spanish Chasse Maree bound for Corunna and as another was expected laden with sundries for the troops at Ferol he sent Lieutenant Moore and a party in her to intercept her companion. In the night he returned bringing in the Jesus Nazareno and San Antonio.
