Folios 317-318: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reply to lettre dated 1 April 1806. In the cases of:- Charles Hamilton (1), Hans Stevenson (2), John Linstrom (3), Jacob Akinson (4), Charles Andrews (5) and Peter Gadda (6). who's discharges has been requested by Mr [Claes] Grill the Swedish Consul. (1) Carl Gustaf Hamilton, as he now calls himself, but George Hamilton on our Books was reported to you on 23 March 1806, Copy as follows:- George Hamilton was impressed by Lieutenant [Sampson] Mitchell on shore at North Shields on 20 February 1806. He had recently sailed in the ship Montego Bay of London. He states himself to be a Swede but has no proof. (2) Hans Stevenson was impressed on shore at Newcastle on 17 February 1806 by Lieutenant [Nathaniel Thomas] France with no certificate of being Swedish. He had the enclosed affidavit made by himself as being a native of Sweden before a Justice of the Peace at Leith and also a certificate of Baptism. (3) John Linstrom was impressed afloat at North Shields by Lieutenant Mitchell on 18 March 1806 having no proper certificate to prove himself a native of Sweden. He had the enclosed affidavit made by himself at the Public Office Whitechapel. (4) Jacob Akinson as called in your letter and Okerstrom upon our books was also impressed by Lieutenant [Sampson] Mitchell afloat at North Shields on 18 March 1806, he called himself a Swede having no documents but the enclosed Affidavit made by himself as a Public Office Whitechapel as a native of Stockholm, he looks English. (5) Charles Andrew Boleg as called in your letter and Charles Andrews in our books, was impressed at South Shields on 28 February 1806 by Lieutenant [James] Dathan. He called himself foreign but had no documents. (6) Peter Gadda was impressed afloat at South Shields by Lieutenant [James] Dathan on 16 February 1806 with no documents of any sort.
