Description

Folios 291-292: William Charleton, Regulating Captain. North Shields. Reply to letter dated 22 February 1806 in the cases of Thomas Gibson and Thomas Harper whose discharge has been applied for by Mr Blackburn. Thomas Gibson was impressed in North Shields on 13 February 1806 under circumstances which render a long explanation to understand the artful misrepresentations in Mr Cutherberts affidavit.

Folios 293-294: enclosure with folios 291-292. William Blackburn, South Shields. To Admiralty. Dated 19 February 1806. Covering letter for the enclosed affidavits and request the discharge of the two men.

Folios 295-295A: enclosure with folios 291-292. Affidavit by William Cuthbert of Newcastle upon Tyne maketh oath that he carries on the trade of Glass Bottle Manufactures at South Shields in partnership with Messrs Cookson and that on 19 October 1805 he hired Thomas Gibson as a Keelman for the space one year, which will not expire until 19 October 1806.

Folios 296-297: enclosure with folios 291-292. Affidavit by William Cuthbert of Newcastle upon Tyne maketh oath that he carries on the trade of Glass Bottle Manufactures at South Shields in partnership with Messrs Cookson and that Thomas Harper was made an indentured apprentice on 2 April 1803 for six years to learn the art or business of gathering and blowing bottles.

Folio 298: enclosure with folios 291-292. Certificate that Thomas Gibson was bound as a Keelman in the employ of Messrs Bell and Brown in the year 1803.

Folios 299-300: enclosure with folios 291-292. Indenture Thomas Harper son of Luke Harper of South Shields. Dated 1803. As apprentice to Isaac Coockson, William Cuthbert, John Cookson and Isaac Cookson the Younger for six years in the Art of Gathering and Blowing Bottles.
